Troubleshooting
The wheel doesn't show my selected value
- Values are matched with
Object.is. Ifvalueis an object (or aDate) re-created each render, passisEqual:isEqual={(a, b) => a.id === b.id}. - Check that
valueis the value of an item, not its label or index. - If
valuepoints at a disabled item, the nearest enabled one is shown.
onChange fires with the wrong type
Primitive items (['S', 'M'], [1, 2, 3]) give you the primitive. With objects ({ label, value }), you get value. Mixing number and string items gives you a union.
Selected day is off by one
You probably built a date from an ISO string or key: new Date('2026-10-14') is UTC midnight, which is the previous day in the Americas. Use new Date(2026, 9, 14), or parse YYYY-MM-DD into parts. When saving, use toDateKey(date) rather than toISOString().slice(0, 10).
markedDates don't show
Keys must be local YYYY-MM-DD with zero padding (2026-03-05, not 2026-3-5). Build them with toDateKey.
SelectPicker shows nothing after selecting
SelectPicker is controlled-only: you must update value in onChange.
The calendar doesn't jump to my new value
In single mode it follows value changes. In range / multiple mode it doesn't move automatically; remount with a key or set initialMonth when you need to show a specific month.
Sheet content is hidden by the keyboard (Android)
The sheet uses KeyboardAvoidingView on iOS. On Android, set android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" (the Expo default), or give the sheet a fixed height via sheetProps.
The sheet is hidden behind the home indicator
Pass the safe-area inset: sheetProps={{ bottomInset: insets.bottom + 8 }} (or bottomInset on BottomSheet).
Emojis render as empty boxes
The device font doesn't support those emojis (older Android). Set maxEmojiVersion, for example 12 for Android 10.
Wheel feels sluggish in development
Debug builds run JS without optimizations. Try a release build, and make sure items, theme and styles are stable references (see Performance).
